Unger Enterprises' Microfiber Grading System Wins Award

Microfiber classification system placed first in FacilityCare's 2006 Top Product Awards

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (September 12, 2006) -Unger Enterprises, Inc. today announced its patent-pending Microfiber Grading System, the industry's first method of classifying various qualities of microfiber according to usage specifications, won first place in the housekeeping category of FacilityCare's 2006 Top Product Awards program.

FacilityCare's Top Products Award program recognizes innovative new products that contribute to the improvement of healthcare facilities through design, operation or maintenance support in specific categories that include; building grounds maintenance, housekeeping, indoor air quality/HVAC and infection control.

"This recognition is truly an honor," said Bruno Niklaus, Vice President of Global Marketing, Unger Enterprises. "We are the first manufacturer that has conducted research into the appropriate application specifications for varying grades of Microfiber. Bearing the end user in mind, Unger understands that selecting a grade of microfiber can be challenging. With our Microfiber Grading System, customers can now be confident they aren't over-investing in high grade microfiber for light-duty cleaning environments, or under-purchasing for heavily soiled applications. The grading system acts as a buying guide for microfiber."

All entries were judged by an expert panel of healthcare industry professionals. Awards were presented at the ASHE Annual Conference in Boston on July 10, 2006.

"The Top Product Awards program is an outstanding way to recognize and reward new healthcare products that stand out from the crowd," said Emily Howard, publisher, FacilityCare. "I am delighted to congratulate those manufacturers that have been singled out for their unique contribution to a safe and healing environment."

Unger's Microfiber Grading System will be featured in the September issue of FacilityCare magazine and on its Web site at www.facilitycare.com.

About Microfiber
Made from fibers that are 1/100th the size of typical cloth fibers, microfiber is a single synthetic fiber extruded during the manufacturing process that results in extremely fine filaments that exceed the strength of conventional fibers. Each fiber is split 16 times into a "V"-shaped construction that is less than a micron in size and then knitted into a soft, reusable cleaning tool that is 30 times softer than cotton. The fibers' miniscule size allows them to reach deep into surface irregularities to capture dirt and germs, and studies show that microfiber reduces bacteria by 96 percent. It is also known to absorb more than seven times its weight in water.
