U.S. Navy Rear Admiral to Visit Marlin Steel to Highlight Navy's Role in Protecting Free Trade

BALTIMORE, Md. - U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Anatolio B. "A.B." Cruz III, Reserve Deputy Director of Maritime Operations for U.S. Fleet Forces Command, will visit Marlin Steel Wire Products in Baltimore Tuesday to highlight the Navy’s role in protecting the seas for free trade.

Cruz will visit with Marlin Steel President Drew Greenblatt at the factory where the company manufacturers industrial material handling baskets from steel wire and sheet metal. Marlin was ranked the 230th fastest growing private manufacturer in the U.S. last week by Inc. magazine on the “Inc. 5000.”

The company exports to 36 countries. Greenblatt has testified on the importance of free trade and U.S. export growth before Congress as an executive board member of the National Association of Manufacturers. He is a member of Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley’s International Advisory Council and received an international business leadership award from the World Trade Center Institute in 2011.

Tuesday’s visit, coordinated by the Chief of Naval Operations and Chief of Navy Information, is part of an outreach mission called “50/50” - 50 admirals for 50 states - to help increase understanding of the Navy’s mission and relevance to national security. Cruz is also scheduled to meet with other government, business and civic leaders. The San Antonio native graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1980. He earned a master's degree in marketing at the University of Maryland and a juris doctorate degree in law at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
