May 21, 2008

Tripp Lite, a world leading manufacturer of power protection equipment, has announced its aims to leverage the growing demand for branded UPS products within the USD 400 million Indian UPS market, which is currently witnessing 22 per cent compound annual growth rate, according to IDC. As part of its regional strategy to reinforce its commitment to the country's power protection market, the company has recently appointed Mohan Ramaratnam as Country Manager for India. Ramaratnam's task is to implement strategic plans to strengthen the company's position as a leader in power protection equipment in the rapidly growing Asian economy.

In addition to the appointment of its new country head, Tripp Lite is currently working with its distribution partner 'Rajdeep Energies P Ltd', a Hyderabad based wholesaler, in order to strengthen 'Tripp Lite Executive Partners' (TEP), which comprises of more than 36 appointed channel partners that are spread across Pan-India. At present, the company has close to 100 fully trained Tripp Lite Business Partners (TBPs) working under the TEPs to assess and implement power protection and continuity projects across the country. As the only multinational company to launch inverters in India that can support customers ranging from homes, SMBs and the top telecom companies, the company is focusing its efforts in 2008 to gain clients from key verticals in the country, including in the oil and gas, healthcare, banking and finance sectors.

"We have witnessed outstanding growth in the power protection market in India, especially across a vast majority of the country's progressive states. With the rise in usage of UPS products in both the residential and commercial sectors, we are seeing an excellent opportunity within this market," said Vipin Sharma, Vice President - EEMEA Sales, Tripp Lite. "In addition to charting a targeted marketing and distribution plan for the country, we have also appointed Mohan Ramaratnam as Country Manager, whose primary role will be to maximise the available opportunities for Tripp Lite in India."

As a testament to Tripp Lite's commitment to this emerging market, Mohan Ramaratnam's role as Country Manager will focus on the expansion of the company's pool of certified resellers, improvement of product availability and delivery of better customer support for local customers. Backed with two decades of experience in manufacturing, support, marketing, pre-sales and sales of power solutions and IT products and services in India and the Middle East, Ramaratnam has worked throughout India and the Middle East for TVS Electronics, Ingram Micro India, Eaton Powerware and Chloride Industrial Systems. His considerable expertise in power and power continuity solutions specifically UPS, combined with his knowledge of markets in Europe, Japan, the United Kingdom, China and the Middle East, were key factors in his appointment.

"The rapid growth of Tripp Lite in the Middle East has made it inevitable to turn its focus to other potential-laden markets such as India. India is definitely one of the fastest growing markets for power protection products in the world, and to be able to rise above competition within this massive market is nothing short of an overwhelming task. While we cannot underrate the challenges ahead, we can assure our clients and stakeholders that we have set ourselves ambitious but attainable goals and we will be pouring all our efforts to meet and exceed their expectations," concluded Ramaratnam.

Tripp Lite has recently secured a high value contract with a high profile multinational insurance company, where it has deployed more than 600 units of its 6kVA products and about 100 Nos of its Inverter chargers to support power continuity within satellite offices.
