U.S. Executive Director of TABD to Speak at ANSI Electric Vehicles Workshop

Online Registration Open; Pre-Meeting Materials Available for Attendees

In their continuing efforts to promote economic growth, business leaders and government officials from the United States and Europe participating in the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) recently identified electric cars and smart grids as critical areas for engagement. Kathryn Hauser, U.S. Executive Director of the TABD, will speak about this new initiative at the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Workshop Standards and Codes for Electric Drive Vehicles taking place April 5-6, 2011, in Bethesda, Maryland.

Convened on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy and the Idaho National Laboratory, the ANSI event will explore the standards, codes, conformance programs, and education initiatives needed to facilitate the widespread deployment of electric vehicles in the marketplace. This will include presentations and interactive panel discussions on domestic and international activities that are currently underway. Participants will also discuss in focused breakout sessions the key standardization issues of concern relating to vehicles, infrastructure, and support services, and they will identify gaps where additional standards and codes development work and related programs may be needed.

In order to prepare for the workshop, participants are encouraged to review pre-meeting materials including breakout group worksheets that are now available online at www.ansi.org/edv. These relate to the specific focus questions that will be covered in the breakout sessions. Participants are encouraged to think about which session they wish to attend and to write down some of their answers to the focus questions ahead of time.

Interested parties are encouraged to register at www.ansi.org/edv. Registration is $195 and includes all conference materials, plus two days continental breakfast, networking breaks and lunch, and an evening reception on day one.
