TopCoder Founder Jack Hughes to Speak on the Changing Nature of Work at Temple University's Fox School of Business

GLASTONBURY, Conn., Feb. 1, 2011 - TopCoder®, Inc. today announced that company Founder Jack Hughes will visit the Fox School of Business at Temple University in Philadelphia, on Thursday, February 10th to present a discussion on the changing nature of work - the impact that change will have on workers, its new systems and what future business leaders can do to prepare themselves for success.

In a rapidly changing world and workplace, the internet is having profound effects on how companies manage a highly diverse, mobile and global workforce. Management models are undergoing shifts to meet these new challenges and opportunities. Managers will need to develop new skill sets, measurement and motivation systems to engage these new models of work. These changes and their effects will be approached in the context of TopCoder - the world's largest competitive software development community. Founded in 2001, TopCoder's mission has been to create mechanisms for learning, skills mastery and opportunity through online social and professional community.

Based on his own programming experience and history as an entrepreneur, Hughes will discuss his belief that while the global economy becomes more information and knowledge based, more is needed to drive interest and mastery of foundational skills for existing and future entrants into these fields. Hughes is visiting the Fox School through its Institute for Business and Information Technology, which organizes an ongoing Distinguished Speaker series.
