Company to Give Away 3D Printer from Solidoodle and Judge Student Competition During Manufacturing Event

Springfield, MA — Manufacturing professionals seeking innovative solutions to key business challenges, from increasing sales, to locating the exact products they need, will find answers by visiting ThomasNet®’s booth #3337 at EASTEC May 14-16, 2013.

ThomasNet’s team will discuss and demonstrate their leading-edge programs and services, including the millions of downloadable 2D/3D CAD models and drawings on ThomasNet.com®. Booth visitors will have the chance to see other innovations in action, too. For example, manufacturers will be treated to a live demonstration of how a 3D CAD drawing, such as a bottle opener design, can be turned into a usable product using a Solidoodle 3D printer. ThomasNet will give a Solidoodle printer away to one lucky visitor to the booth.

During the conference, ThomasNet will also work with the next generation of innovators—students taking part in EASTEC’s Dream !t Do !t® Manufacturing Student Challenge. As a Gold Sponsor and judging partner, ThomasNet will help select the winners of this event. Teams of students will compete to develop the best solutions to difficult manufacturing problems, such as making manufacturing processes “greener.”

ThomasNet executives will also discuss:

• New enhancements to ThomasNet.com, industry’s free platform for engineers, procurement professionals, facilities managers, and others who source OEM, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), custom manufacturing and other products and services. ThomasNet.com has introduced groundbreaking semantic search technology, so that buyers can access detailed information on more than 100 million parts, and find exactly what they want. They have also added new Request for Information (RFI) technology to help users define their custom manufacturing needs, and find the right job shops to quote on their projects.  The hallmark of the platform is its 610,000 suppliers with multi-page, information-packed company profiles to aid in supplier evaluation, shortlisting, and selection.

• A new program to help product manufacturers improve lead generation and sales by making their detailed product content available on ThomasNet.com.

• The ThomasNet North American Manufacturing Scholarship Program. Up to 30 graduating high school seniors will be eligible for $1,000 scholarships to pursue studies at a two-year or four-year college, or a vocational-technical school. Students interested in supply chain management/business operations, engineering, or a skilled trade are eligible and can apply at http://www.thomasnetscholarship.com.
