Thermo Presents Expanded Informatics Offering at BCEIA 2005

Philadelphia, PA (September 30, 2005) - Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE: TMO), the world leader in analytical instruments, presents its expanded offering of laboratory software solutions at the Beijing Conference and Exhibition on Instrumental Analysis (BCEIA), October 20-23 at the Peking University Yingjie Exchange Center. Demonstrations of Thermo's industry-leading Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Chromatography Data Systems (CDS) for the petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries in particular will be available on booth A049-A053, A060-A064.

"BCEIA is the perfect venue to introduce our flagship LIMS, SampleManager, and the latest version of our CDS, Atlas 8.0, to China's growth industries that are looking to reduce the risk and total cost of ownership of their informatics implementations, while being assured of the rewards of working with proven technologies," said Michael Kelly, director, Asia Pacific Northern Region for Thermo's Informatics business. "With the most installed LIMS worldwide, and a truly global services network, Thermo is uniquely positioned to serve China's informatics needs."

SampleManager LIMS(TM) is installed as the corporate standard at leading oil, gas and chemical companies, where it is used in the production environment for quality assurance and quality control. As an enterprise solution, SampleManager integrates with other network applications to fulfill large organizations' overall informatics strategies. Thermo is also highlighting its LIMS/CDS integration, which maximizes productivity through better access and distribution of information. Atlas CDS, also an enterprise system with major installations at leading petrochemical and chemical companies, provides critical updates in its latest release, version 8.0 - making the user-friendly system more dependable than ever.
For pharmaceutical customers in the region, Thermo will preview Darwin LIMS(TM), designed specifically for pharmaceutical development and quality control. Also available for demonstration will be Thermo's industry leading LIMS for bioanalysis, Watson(TM), and its in vitro ADME/Tox LIMS, Galileo(TM). Thermo's commercial off-the-shelf solutions provide the most application-specific functionality out of the box, minimizing customization while maximizing productivity and ease of use.

In addition to its Informatics solutions, Thermo will be exhibiting a wide range of industry leading analytical instrumentation, lab automation, equipment and services at BCEIA. Exhibit highlights include user-friendly and cost-effective turnkey solutions for the modern laboratory with an emphasis on easy implementation, performance and integration.
