Thermo Partners with CAMO to Achieve Powerful Chemometric Modeling for NIR Applications

(April 27, 2006) - Thermo Electron Corporation, market leader in analytical instrumentation, announces a strategic collaboration agreement with CAMO Software, a pioneer in the multivariate statistical software market, to promote compatibility between Thermo's RESULTTM software and CAMO's The Unscrambler® software. Under the terms of the agreement, Thermo will offer The Unscrambler Suite of products as a software option with its AntarisTM range of near infrared (NIR) analyzers, and will also join CAMO's Scientific Board of Advisors, which helps plan upcoming development activities. The enhanced compatibility between RESULT and The Unscrambler allows RESULT to automatically integrate existing Unscrambler methods bringing together the most powerful NIR analyzers, with the most efficient modeling software available for NIR applications.

Method developers and NIR experts in the food and pharmaceutical industries require powerful chemometric modeling and exploratory statistical tools to conduct difficult analyses such as studying relationships in their products and manufacturing processes. Modeling may now be executed using The Unscrambler, and calibrations may be implemented in real-time routines with the RESULT workflows, thereby eliminating the need for data conversion or rebuilding methods in different software. The Unscrambler's wizard-driven Design of Experiment features, together with its advanced modeling capabilities is of particular benefit for PAT implementations that require optimized method development for the NIR analysis and exploration of the process design space. This can now be carried out from a single analytical package.

A spokesperson from CAMO stated, "We are very pleased to bring to our mutual clients the benefits of these exciting new levels of cross-functionality and greatly expanded application development possibilities. Clients will benefit from lower R&D and applications development costs while realizing vastly improved analytical and development capabilities implementing seamless On-, In-, At-, and Off-line Chemometric applications. According to the agreement, Thermo will now offer clients their full line of existing and new NIR Analyzers combined with their RESULT instrument software and CAMO's full suite of multivariate analytical solutions which include CAMO's flagship products, The Unscrambler software, The Unscrambler On-Line Predictor (OLUP), The Unscrambler On-Line Classifier (OLUC) and CAMO's Product and Process Optimizer. This agreement enables CAMO to leverage Thermo's long-standing leadership and expertise in NIR Analysis and enhance our position as a market leading developer and provider of advanced multivariate statistical software products and solutions in the spectroscopy and chemometric domains."
