Thermo Electron Offers New Applications Solutions

Karlsruhe / Germany (August 30, 2006): Thermo, the world leader in analytical instruments, has expanded the applications capabilities of their HAAKE Series 1 rheometers. These application-oriented and cost-effective rheometers are ideal for use in quality control testing as well as routine measurements in R&D labs.

The HAAKE Series 1 line encompasses a wide variety of application-oriented rheometer systems, providing users the choice between the HAAKE RotoVisco 1 with mechanical bearing drive, the HAAKE RheoStress 1 with air bearing drive or the HAAKE RheoScope 1 with an integrated optical microscope. All HAAKE Series 1 rheometers are mounted on a polymer concrete base frame fulfilling highest requirements in terms of performance, reliability and eye-pleasing design.

Thermo also offers a broad selection of temperature control units - including Peltier, thermal liquid and electrically heated systems - to meet users' specific needs. An extensive range of measuring system tooling is also offered: lightweight titanium rotors with low moment of inertia as standard equipment, high-temperature rotors equipped with ceramic shafts to minimize heat loss and temperature gradients within the sample measured, disposable systems as well as specialty measurement systems with profiled wall surfaces to counteract slip-film formation or sedimentation.

Fully committed to providing solutions for rheological problems, Thermo is constantly expanding and improving their range of accessories. One recent development is their annular measuring plate for rheological monitoring of gelling and curing reactions which consume atmospheric humidity. Unlike conventional plates which can block vapor diffusion and prevent uniform gelling or curing throughout the sample volume, the ring plate provides an optimized surface-to-volume ratio which effects homogeneous curing, therefore ensuring meaningful measurements. A new feature in Thermo's accessory program is a universal filling tool ensuring optimum gap filling within cone and plate measuring geometries. Application-specific measuring systems for individual test regimes, e.g. monitoring of UV-activated curing processes, round out the extensive accessory program offered by Thermo.
