Theodore J. Engle Receives ASTM International Award of Merit for Contributions to Copper and Copper Alloy Standards


ASTM International Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys has presented the Award of Merit and title of fellow to Theodore J. Engle, product development manager at Revere Copper Products, Rome, N.Y. The Award of Merit is ASTM's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

Engle is second vice chairman of Committee B05, where he serves on multiple subcommittees. He is also chairman of Subcommittee B05.02 on Rod, Bar, Wire, Shapes and Forgings and secretary of B05.94 on Strategic Planning. He received a B05 Award of Appreciation in 2003 and a Distinguished Service Award for his term on the ASTM Committee on Standards in 2009.

A member of ASTM International since 1997, Engle also works on Committees E06 on Performance of Buildings, E12 on Color and Appearance and E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials and Alternative Control Agents.

Engle joined Revere Copper in 1972 as a process engineer. He was promoted to process manager, metallurgical manager and then plant quality manager before assuming his current role in 1996. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University (formerly Clarkson College of Technology), Potsdam, N.Y., and a master's degree in industrial and management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y.

In addition to ASTM International, he is a member of the American Society for Quality and has been a certified quality engineer since 1984. He has also served as a proctor and administrator for certification exams in central New York and was a member of ASM International for 25 years.
