The HARTING Technology Group at the Hanover Fair 2008:Pushing Our Capabilities to Enhance Customer Performance on the Growth Curve

Espelkamp/Hanover, April 22nd, 2008 --- The HARTING Technology Group will put its product solutions on display once again at this year's Hanover Fair, demonstrating its credentials as a highly capable, professional partner for networks and connectivity. The family-owned German company presented its impressive financial results during a press conference in the context of the world's largest industrial trade show. All indications point to continued growth.

Stronger market position
In financial year 2006/2007 the technology group's worldwide turnover rose by 10.2 % to 345 million euros, a significant increase compared to the previous year's 313 million. Dietmar Harting was visibly pleased that the company was able to strengthen its market position in all of the core markets. The technology group is well on its way to achieving double-digit growth again this year. As of March 31st, turnover stood at 188 million euros, which is a 14 % increase year-on-year (turnover was 165 million euros in the same period last year).

Creating new jobs
Headcount is also growing at a positive rate. Between March 31st, 2007 and the same reporting date this year, the number of employees worldwide increased from 2,621 to 3,032. "By creating 411 new jobs, HARTING has shown that well-qualified and highly committed employees make a vital contribution to the group's success," proclaimed Dietmar Harting. Significantly higher spendings as well in investment as in research and development highlight the company's determination to maintain its position on the growth curve.

Staying as close to the customer as possible
In 2007, HARTING opened new manufacturing facilities in Sibiu, Romania, and Zhuhai, China, to enhance its presence worldwide. The technology company now has subsidiaries and offices in 40 countries. Dietmar Harting is convinced that "our direct presence in all of the key global markets places us as close to the customer as possible".

Pushing performance
The HARTING Technology Group was pleased to welcome a new member to the senior management team. Philip Harting took over responsibility for Connectivity & Networks on the Executive Board as of March 1st, 2008, and he now manages the worldwide connector business. In his previous role as Mana¬ging Director Asia Pacific, he had been responsible for developing the technology group's business in Asia since 2005. He has formulated clear goals for his new challenge at corporate headquarters: "In keeping with our basic philosophy of pushing performance, we are fully committed to developing highly innovative product solutions based on the continuing enhancement of our own capabilities. These products are designed to improve the performance and competitiveness of our customers, and visitors who come to our stand will have the opportunity to witness this first hand."

Impressive customer solutions at the larger main stand
The Technology Group's main stand (Hall 11, C 13) has significantly expanded, and it now measures 832m² (previously 520m²). Visitors will get a first-hand experience of the innovative customer solutions and products for industrial installation technology, device connectivity and networking Automation IT applications. In the installation connectivity product segment, HARTING will be showing its Han® 3 A INOX enclosure family, which expands the application horizon for connectivity in the food and process industries. The advantages of the mCon 1000 switch family will be put to the test in the device connectivity product segment. These switches are the ideal solution for communication networks, power distribution stations, wind power generation systems and similar applications. HARTING will also be unveiling the M12 wall bushing, which can be assembled in the field to meet the needs of the particular application.

Collaboration with LEONI Kerpen
At the press conference, the HARTING Technology Group also shared information about its strategic partnership with LEONI Kerpen GmbH, a leader in the cable industry, which is based in Stolberg, Germany. In collaboration with LEONI, HARTING now offers an application-neutral cabling system (ISO/IEC 24702 and EN 50173-3), which is suitable for use in a wide range of industries. The solution includes HARTING's IP 67 PushPull connector, which is the only solution, and the smallest in its class, that is defined in an international standard (IEC 61076-3-106 Variant 4) for generic industrial building cabling. LEONI Kerpen provides its VarioKeystone®-technology for flexible, future-proof installation.
