The 3-Dimensional Services Group Announces The Retirement of One of its Founding Employees

Rochester Hills, MI The 3-Dimensional Services Group has announced the retirement of one of its founding employees. Rick Peterson officially retired at the end of June after a 40- year career in manufacturing with the family business. To honor him the company presented Rick with a “one of a kind” distinctive crystal award to recognize his achievements.

Peterson started as a welder and bench hand, as well as an apprentice metal model maker, working his way up to journeyman metal model maker and plant manager for the family-owned Quasar Industries. His career then shifted to The 3-Dimensional Services Group in 2004, another family-owned company that specializes in prototyping and low-volume production manufacturing. Peterson then became a key employee of this new company, started by his cousin, Douglas Peterson. At 3-Dimensional Services Rick was assigned a program manager position. During that time, he continued his welding knowledge and achieved the AWS Certified Weld Inspector designation.

According to Alan Peterson, president of The 3-Dimensional Services Group and brother to Rick, “Rick has been an important part of our company’s growth. His knowledge and insight into manufacturing has been an inspiration to us all. Our family has had a long run in developing leading-edge technology and producing parts for some of the world’s largest OEMs and Rick has been instrumental in that success.”

Rick Peterson lives in Holly Michigan with his wife and has two adult daughters with five grandchildren. He plans on spending his retirement “relaxing” with family and camping.

The 3-Dimensional Services Group, consisting of 3-Dimensional Services, Urgent Plastic Services, Urgent Design & Manufacturing, 3-Dimensional Services—Europe and Michigan Integrated Technologies has earned a reputation for building functional prototype parts and producing low-volume production parts and assemblies 50 to 70% faster than conventional shops.
