The 2013 Easi-Set Building Producers Seminar, The Most-Attended Ever!

The 29th Easi-Set Building Producers Seminar, September 12th-14th, had the highest attendance in history, with over 70 licensed producers, guests, sponsors and Easi-Set staff gathering in Boston, MA for three days of learning, sharing, great food and fun. Shea Concrete Products served as this year’s gracious host. The Seminar was held at The Seaport Hotel located on the famed Boston Harbor.

The Seminar began on Thursday with a wonderful reception followed by Mary Tharpe’s original mixer game – a tradition. Afterwards, the attendees joined together for a delicious dinner and awards banquet. Smith-Midland Corp., Midland, VA, was awarded the “traveling trophy” for the Most Easi-Set/Easi-Span Buildings Sold, as well as the award for The Most Easi-Set Restrooms Sold. Lonestar Prestress, Mfg., Inc., Houston, TX, again took the Largest Easi-Span “Footprint” Award, while Lecuyer Et Fils Ltee, St. Remi, Quebec, obtained the Highest Average Sales Award. The Highest Percentage of Specified Sales Award, the first time this award was presented, went to Smith-Carolina, Reidsville, NC. This award was introduced to recognize the Easi-Set Buildings Licensed Producer able to obtain building sales through Engineering Firms specifying buildings on projects throughout the world. Norwalk Concrete Products, Norwalk, OH, won the Most Complicated Building Award for the third straight year, with Oldcastle Precast, Easton, PA, earning an Honorable Mention with a challenging project in this same category. The evening was capped off with an entertaining speaker, Frank Damelio, of Target Intellect. Frank combined an insightful talk about body language and its importance in presentations and sales with a humorous twist involving audience participation, playing cards, and even a spinning spiral wheel. The entire audience left with practical information as well as gaining a new respect for someone who can entertain while teaching important sales principals.

Following a complete breakfast buffet, Friday morning’s session began with introductions of Greg Stratis, Manager at our host company Shea Concrete and Arthur Miles, Easi-Set’s new President. Comprehensive marketing, sales and technical presentations lead into the annual Plant Tour and lunch, which was held at Shea Concrete’s Rochester, MA plant where they cast their Easi-Set and Easi-Span Buildings. Also during the morning the partners outing featured a trolley tour organized by Brenda Stratis Kathleen Shea. The plant tour luncheon included a “clam bake” with native steamers, corn on the cob, potatoes, and a tasty local clam chowder. All were treated to fresh, local, New England whole lobsters cooked to perfection. Shea’s exceptional plant tour lunch won’t soon be forgotten! Arriving back at The Seaport Hotel, our generous Sponsors were given the opportunity to talk to the attendees about the products they offer. Friday evening ended with a spectacular Boston Harbor champagne dinner cruise with music, great food, and conversation.

Always the highlight of the Seminar, the success stories on Saturday provide each Licensee the platform to present a special project, new technique, or how they overcame a unique challenge. Over the years Easi-Set’s Network of Building Producers has become a tight-knit group of friends and respected fellow producers.
