Tektronix Sponsors HDMI Developers Conference

Company Joins with HDMI Licensing and China Video Industry Association to Empower the Consumer Electronics and PC Manufacturers in Asia Pacific

BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 3 / - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that the company will participate with HDMI Licensing, LLC - the agent responsible for licensing the High-Definition Multimedia Interface(TM) (HDMI(TM)) specification - and with the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) in the first HDMI Developers Conference in Shenzhen, China on September 12, 2007. CVIA members include China's largest manufacturers of digital televisions, digital movie/broadcasting, high-definition optical discs, set-top boxes and information technology equipment and components. Tektronix is a platinum sponsor of the event and will demonstrate its HDMI 1.3b Compliance Testing Solution.

The continued rapid adoption of HDMI as the de facto standard connector for high-definition consumer electronics (CE) devices, including TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players and A/V receivers, has created a demand for a developers conference that will help existing and new CE and personal computer (PC) manufacturers to successfully implement advanced HDMI features and establish best practices. Attendees - design engineers and product planners from the largest CE and PC manufacturers in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan - will learn how to successfully implement HDMI 1.3-enabled features into their product lines.

"Tektronix is committed to empowering electronics engineers through our technology and products to develop innovative solutions for the new digital world," said James Alderton, Marketing Director of Tektronix Asia Pacific Region. "Tektronix has been working with HDMI Licensing and its founders on test procedures and instrumentation since the beginning of the specification. The HDMI Developers Conference will help educate engineers on the HDMI standard and empower them to speed validation testing for new HDMI designs."

To address the increased HDMI test and measurement challenges, Tektronix announced its second generation test solution for integrated sink, source and cable tests using high-performance hardware and software for HDMI v1.3 in September 2006, providing designers an automated standard compliance test system to speed validation of HDMI designs. In January 2007, Tektronix instruments to certify HDMI standard compliance were included in the Compliance Test Specification (CTS) issued by HDMI Licensing, LLC.
