Tek Pak, Inc. Adds High-Speed Thermoforming Line

New Kiefel KMD60B Speedformer will enable Tek Pak to offer enhanced custom thermoforming services for both long- and short-production runs for the electronics, medical, industrial, and consumer packaging markets

St. Charles, IL – Tek Pak, Inc. has installed a Kiefel KMD60B Speedformer at its St. Charles location to add significant new capacity and capabilities for its custom thermoforming services. The new high-speed thermoforming line will enable Tek Pak to offer long-run production service in addition to the ongoing offering of short- and medium-length production runs.

The all-electric, servo-controlled machine thermoforms light gauge thermoplastics and includes in-line trimming and stacking. It utilizes 3rd-motion plug assist molding for producing difficult parts. Tek Pak has developed a quick-change tooling platform to accelerate changeover times between runs to make for cost effective short runs.

"It's really exciting for us to go to the next level and offer the high quality of service to our customers that this new machine will enable. We feel that the Kiefel thermoformer has the ideal combination of speed, quality, size, efficiency, and reliability," said Tony Beyer, Tek Pak's President.

"While the modest size of the quick-change tooling platform offers value for short- and medium-length production runs, the high speed of the machine makes high-volume production cost effective as well. This machine really is ideal for both ends of the production spectrum," said Tracy Wolf, Tek Pak's Business Development Manager.
