TAOS, Inc. Hires Semiconductor Industry Veteran as New Vice President of Engineering

Two Other TAOS Engineering Executives Promoted to Chief Technical Officer and Chief Scientist Respectively

January 24, 2008 (Plano, TX) -- Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions®, Inc (TAOS) announced today that the company has hired semiconductor industry veteran Lloyd Hasley as its new Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Hasley replaces Cecil Aswell who has been promoted to Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Former CTO, Dr. Gene Dierschke, has been promoted to Chief Scientist.

Mr. Hasley brings almost three decades of business and design management experience to his new position at TAOS, Inc. Since beginning his career in 1979, Mr. Hasley has been involved in the design, development and marketing of semiconductor devices which targeted the telecom and/or networking industries. For example, from 2005 to 2007, Mr. Hasley served as the vice president and general manager of the embedded and secure processor (ESP) and chipset and storage infrastructure (CSI) lines of business at Broadcom Corporation in San Jose, CA. From 2002 to 2005, he served as the director of the PowerQUICC III & IV processor product lines operation at Freescale Semiconductor in Austin, TX. In 1999, Mr. Hasley was hired by Zilog, Inc. to broaden this company's product lines into the networking marketplace.

In 1979, Mr. Hasley was graduated from California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo, CA) with a BSEL degree. In 1980, he was awarded an MSEE degree from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN).

"We are excited to have Lloyd join TAOS, Inc. as our new Vice President of Engineering," said Kirk Laney, TAOS, Inc. President and CEO. "Lloyd's extensive experience in digital design fits perfectly with the TAOS product strategy to add more digital functions around optical sensing. We believe that the addition of Lloyd along with Cecil Aswell and Dr. Gene Dierschke assuming their new roles as Chief Technical Officer and Chief Scientist respectively will put TAOS, Inc. in an excellent position to meet the future needs of the opto sensing market."

Dr. Gene Dierschke and Mr. Cecil Aswell have more than 70 years of combined experience between them in the analog and opto sensing design arenas. In his new role as TAOS, Inc. Chief Scientist, Dr. Dierschke will be concentrating his efforts on IC process development. As the new TAOS, Inc. Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Aswell will be using his experience to help develop new technologies that support the TAOS, Inc. vision.
