Among the new products is the Medix 1500, a medical grade, point-of-care, touch screen PC with a 15-17" display and exceptional power savings by using a L2400 Intel Core Duo 15 watt CPU (others use 21-27 watt CPUs). The medical grade PC is also fanless, which provides a dust-free operation and makes it easier to clean using a 10% bleach/water disinfectant solutions whereas the competition uses fans and exposed ventilation holes making it difficult to spray with cleaning agents.

The Medix1500 weighs only l6.9 lbs making it light enough for cart-based applications. It also comes with a shock-absorbing HDD mounting system to absorb impacts in cart applications. The starting price is $2795.

Tangent will also show several new medical cart optimized computing devices, including an ultra power-efficient fanless Evergreen model with optional touch screen, based upon a nine watt VIA CPU. It is available as a thin client or as a power-efficient PC that uses 70% less energy than the current Energy Star 4.0 specifications.

Another PC product that will be exhibited is a small form factor, fanless PC called the Rugged Mini VF which, when teamed with a cost effective medical cart, dramatically reduces the cost of cart-based solutions.

Tangent will also exhibit DataCove, an e-mail archival appliance that allows hospitals and other medical providers to meet new federal regulations to archive e-mail, IM and digital communications.

DataCove is a simple, affordable way for organizations to index and archive email and instant messages in compliance with new Federal regulations, including HIPAA compliance as well as the other standard FRCP compliance. It is targeted toward medical Security Officers, Compliance Officers, Risk Managers, Human Resources, IT, legal departments and others concerned with electronic data retention.

With a starting price of less than $6,000, DataCove is a plug-and-play appliance that can be installed anywhere in the network. DataCove is easy to install and manage and features effortless search and retrieval, redundant disk and tape archiving, and a fully searchable database with intuitive web-based menus for easy use.
