Original Press Release:

ASTM International Symposium on Building Walls Subject to Water Intrusion and Accumulation

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.–A symposium on Building Walls Subject to Water Intrusion and Accumulation: Lessons from the Past and Recommendations for the Future, will to be held April 14-15 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Ind. Sponsored by ASTM International Subcommittee E06.55 on Exterior Building Wall Systems, part of Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committees.

Twenty-two years ago, ASTM Subcommittee E06.55 sponsored its first symposium pertaining to water in exterior building walls. Since that time, the proliferation of both new and previously repaired buildings that leak and/or continue to leak, and/or suffer from unintended moisture accumulation, has increased. Through the continued efforts of many ASTM committees, including E06.55, numerous standards have been and continue to be developed to address the evaluation, design and repair of building walls.

The objective of this symposium is to document both the industry's and ASTM's efforts in addressing these problems through standard development, and disseminate this information. Discussion of past, current and future research; case studies; and recommendations for analysis, design approaches, construction tools and proactive maintenance intended to both maintain and extend the service life of our society's building inventory can assist in accomplishing this objective.

Online registration is now open and closes April 10. The cost of attendance is $350 USD online and $375 USD on site for ASTM members; and $400 USD online and $425 on site for non-ASTM members. There is no attendance fee for presenters and students with a valid ID.
