Staples Canada Sells Barcoding Solutions by Wasp Barcode Technologies at 50 Canadian Retail Outlets

New solutions that help small businesses improve productivity now available at Canadian office superstores

Plano, Texas - October 30, 2008 - Barcoding solutions are making their first appearance at 50 Staples® Business Depot(TM) office superstores, giving small business owners immediate access to affordable technology that can improve their bottom-line results.

Wasp Barcode Technologies (http://www.waspbarcode.com/) will stock the Staples stores with products specifically designed for small business, including software to create barcodes and scanners that read barcodes. In addition, Staples will sell WaspNest, a value-packed suite that includes a barcode scanner, barcode labeling software, and software for basic inventory and asset tracking. Additionally, these and several other Wasp barcoding products are available across the country via the Staples Canada (http://www.staples.ca/) web site.

"We're constantly on the lookout for solutions that will help our customers run their businesses more efficiently," said Alex Nigro, category manager for Staples Business Depot. "These business owners already trust Staples for easy solutions to improve their businesses. By adding Wasp barcoding products to our stores, we'll be exposing customers to a new way they can drive productivity and send more profits to the bottom line."

Customer research by Wasp confirms there is a largely unmet need for barcoding solutions among the millions of small business owners. In addition, independent research shows that small business owners have a unique, close affiliation with their local office superstores like Staples.

"The Canadian retail market for small business is rather unique," said Michelle Warren, president of Toronto-based MW Research & Consulting. "It is comprised largely of 'big box' or regional retailers. Staples Business Depot is considered to be a hybrid: a nationally recognized retailer that also provides personal service. The combination of providing a local touch, while also being a dominant office superstore retailer, has enabled Staples to build an extremely loyal client base of small business owners. Wasp is prudent to partner with Staples."

In today's volatile economic environment, business owners are demanding solutions that increase efficiency and improve productivity. Now, thanks to a compelling in-store point of purchase display, business owners can learn about the benefits of barcoding right in their local Staples. Designed by a Canadian design firm, Peter McKee & Associates, these displayers will be in prominent locations in the stores.

"Perhaps no retail outlet in Canada understands small business as well as Staples Business Depot," said Tom O'Shea, general manager for Wasp Barcode Technologies. "Business owners rely on these stores for expertise and innovative products that will make their companies stronger. Having a retail partner like Staples will go a long way toward expanding the awareness and penetration of barcoding in the Canadian small business market."

The Wasp barcoding display features four Wasp solutions: BarcodeMaker software, which creates barcodes for use in Microsoft Office documents; a Wasp CCD barcode scanner, which is used to read barcodes; and, two versions of the WaspNest suite. WaspNest includes WaspLabeler software for creating barcode labels, WaspTrack software for tracking basic inventory or asset needs, and either a CCD barcode scanner or an upgraded CCD LR (Long Range) scanner. Each of these solutions, as well as more than 20 additional Wasp products, are also available immediately on the Staples web site at www.staples.ca.
