SPE Appoints Eve Vitale as Foundation Director

BETHEL, CT, U.S.A.: SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers) has appointed Eve Vitale as its Foundation Director.

Ms. Vitale’s experience includes six years of corporate and foundation fundraising experience in the automotive and plastics industries and ten years of curriculum development and teaching.

She holds a B.S.M.E. from Oakland University and a M.S.E. with a concentration in manufacturing from Kettering University, where she currently is also the Faculty Adviser of the SPE student chapter and part of the SPE volunteer leadership.

“Eve brings to SPE extensive experience in curriculum development, educational program management, non-profit strategy and fund raising,” said Russell C. Broome, SPE managing director. “She is a well-respected expert in the plastics industry and plastics academia. We are excited about the contributions that she will make to the vitality of the foundation and the impact it will have on the next generation of talent entering the industry as well, particularly in view of the workforce shortage we all hear about.”

Bill Carteaux, president and CEO of SPI and a member of the SPE Foundation board noted that Ms. Vitale worked with SPI during the initial setup of the plastics program at Kettering University. “I found Eve to be dedicated and aggressive to the cause,” he said. “I'm convinced that she will be a tremendous asset to the SPE Foundation, and, working with the Board, will take it to levels never seen before, benefitting the plastics industry for decades to come."

The SPE Foundation awarded 45+ scholarships worth $112,000 to graduate and undergraduate students in 2015. The Foundation also provides grants to college engineering departments for purchasing equipment for hands-on training. In addition, affiliate groups within SPE also have their own scholarship programs. SPE is now working with universities to develop scholarship programs for graduating high school seniors.
