Freeway Translation Management Platform Automates Translation Project Hand-Off, Provides Portal for Complete Project Management
WALTHAM, Mass., March 13 -- Lionbridge (NASDAQ:LIOX) today announced that SolidWorks Corporation has successfully connected its internal content management system (CMS) to Freeway(TM), the Lionbridge web-based translation management platform. Using a simple Web Services connection, SolidWorks can now automatically push its marketing content directly from its CMS out to Lionbridge project managers for translation. Once translated, the content is automatically reinserted into the CMS. As a result, SolidWorks is able to speed up its update cycles using a touch-free translation management process, and can focus on the core task of managing and publishing content rather than on exporting and importing files.
"As we continue to expand our global sales it is critical that our teams have access to the latest messages and positioning," said Corinne Fandel, marketing communications and localization manager at SolidWorks. "Connecting our CMS with Freeway allows us to speed up the translation cycles and further streamline the translation process. Now we can focus on developing our content without spending time moving files into and out of the translation process."
The Freeway translation management platform was designed to provide lightweight web services tools that can be quickly adapted to any internal CMS or content system. As a result, Lionbridge quickly connected Freeway to SolidWorks' custom-built CMS without forcing SolidWorks to adjust its standard workflows and processes.
Once projects are submitted automatically through Freeway, SolidWorks managers are able to track the project status online through the collaboration portal. Reporting of all projects, regardless of how they were submitted, are also consolidated in the system. This provides SolidWorks with a complete view of translation work in progress including job status, project financials, and total volumes.
"Our customers want a simple way to manage their translation process without having to deploy and manage technology systems internally," said Dave Flanagan, Chief Technology Officer of Lionbridge. "Freeway enables direct user access through its online portal, and its native web components make it simple to connect to both standard and custom content management systems. This provides SolidWorks with more flexibility in managing the translation process while improving project speed, and speeding global message delivery."
Freeway is offered for free to Lionbridge clients and translation partners as the foundation of a disciplined, managed service approach to translation management. By seamlessly connecting clients, translators, Lionbridge project managers in-country, and engineers operating offshore, Freeway is helping customers reduce turnaround times, lower the total cost of production, and reach new markets, without investing in additional staff or old-fashioned software licenses.
