SME's North American Manufacturing Research Institution Announces Official Call for Papers for 43rd Annual Conference

Request for original basic or applied research on emerging and innovative manufacturing processes and systems

(DEARBORN, Mich.) – The North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME (NAMRI/SME) invites papers for its 43rd North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC 43). This forum supports manufacturing researchers to network, collaborate and showcase manufacturing research among industry leaders and colleagues.

“The call for papers seeks reporting on original, basic and applied research in manufacturing systems, processes and machines, additive manufacturing, cyber-physical systems and areas related to the work of Professor Robert Hocken that includes metrology, precision engineering and nanoscale manufacturing,” said Albert Shih, NAMRI/SME Scientific Committee chair.

The selected 2015 “Proceedings of NAMRI/SME” will be published in “Procedia Manufacturing” and highlighted at the conference, which will be hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from June 8-12, 2015.

“This call for papers is distinctive, as we publish the proceedings in the open-access Web platform, ‘Procedia Manufacturing,’ published by Elsevier,” said NAMRI/SME President Shreyes Melkote. “These high-quality, peer-reviewed papers will be accessible online during the conference for attendees and permanently archived thereafter with easy, worldwide electronic access.”

“This open-access approach of manufacturing research papers is an important benefit for researchers. The peer-review process will be handled through the EasyChair tool, enabling efficient fast-tracking of selected conference papers to SME’s SCI-indexed ‘Journal of Manufacturing Systems’ and ‘Journal of Manufacturing Processes.’”

To submit a paper, visit: namrc-msec-2015.uncc.edu/paper-submission/namrc-43.  The deadline for submission is Nov. 3, 2014.

Co-located with NAMRC 43 for the fifth year is the 2015 Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC). Together, these conferences will draw more than 400 researchers and manufacturers from around the world to share the latest manufacturing innovations and developments in materials, material processing and manufacturing systems. The conference schedule includes keynotes, expert panels, student and presentation competitions, an exhibition of industry partners, an early career forum, industry tours and award-related events.
