Conference Announcement for PMDS Co-Located with AMExpo and Contrex
Toronto, ON – The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announced their conference line-up today for the upcoming manufacturing event Plant Management and Design Engineering Show (PMDS) this April 23 and 24 at Place Bonaventure, Montreal. PMDS will be co-located with AMExpo and Contrex at this biennial event. These events provide manufacturing professionals from Quebec to network, collaborate and gain insight into the latest technologies and business trends to grow their business.
Conference sessions will be conducted in French only. Highlights include:
Keynote Presentation by Simon Prévost, President, MEQ, a division of CME, April 23, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m - The future of our economy depends on the strength of manufacturing R&D expenditures, valorization and commercialization of high technology and high value-added products that are generated through a dynamic and competitive manufacturing sector. This opening conference will present opportunities and growth challenges for manufacturers. Prévost will also emphasize on the importance of adopting an overall vision and a network strategy in the context of global markets and increasing competition.
Two new technologies introduced by CRIQ, April 23, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - Centre de recherche industrielle Québec (CRIQ) will be introducing “Friction Stir Welding” technologies. CRIQ is currently the only company in Canada to possess license for this technology. “Friction Stir Welding” helps industries such as Ground Transportation and Aerospace improve the process of joining aluminum parts and has been utilized by leading companies as Boeing, Airbus, Honda, Mazda, Lockheed Martin, and Kawasaki. The second technology “component insertion” will be the first introduction of this technology to the Canadian market. This patent-pending technology offers a unique and economic way to assemble aluminum parts.
REAI’s Eight recommendations to MFE to grow automation on April 23, 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Regroupement des équipementiers en automatisation industrielle (REAI) will be sharing their discussions with the Minister of Industrial Policy and the Banque de développement économique du Québec regarding their recommendations to grow Automation in Quebec.
How to meet the needs of prime contractors effectively, presented by STIQ on April 24, from 11:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. STIQ will present a conference addressing the trends observed by Quebec OEMs, integrators and prime contractors concerning their needs in supply and contract manufacturing. These needs affect all areas of the supply chain, not only for first level suppliers, but also for companies interested in providing contract services to large suppliers.
