Small Business Leading National Movement to Feed the Hungry

Fairfield, New Jersey - Corporations Feeding America is asking organizations across the United States to band together in the month of March, collect non-perishable items, and help feed America. To date, this movement has donated over 106,000 pounds of non-perishable goods to local charities.

Corporations Feeding America is being powered by AZCO Corp. After six years, founder Richard Bahr, president of MGS Machine, is handing over the reins to Andy Zucaro, president of AZCO Corp., to lead this movement. Zucaro is very familiar with “feeding” as AZCO Corp. manufactures machines to cut and feed flexible materials. He is excited to be focusing on another type of feeding. AZCO Corp. has participated in the Corporate Food Drive Challenges since 2011 and Zucaro has personally been involved in midnight food runs in NYC since 2010.

“Corporations Feeding America is important to me because I believe we all can make a difference in feeding the hungry. It is my hope that corporations throughout the country will band together, join this nationwide movement, and make a difference in the country by helping their local communities,” said Zucaro.

Each Spring, companies across the United States register for the Corporate Food Drive Challenge and choose a local food bank or charity to support. The company that collects the most non-perishable food donations per pound and/or monetary donations per full-time employees is named the 2017 Corporate Food Drive Winner.

The most recent government statistics on poverty show that 43.1 million people (13.5 percent) were in poverty, including 14.5 million (20 percent) children. Zucaro continues, “When a corporation registers for the challenge, they win three-fold. The local community benefits from the donations, the business is showing corporate social responsibility which in turn builds camaraderie and team work among staff, and engaged employees are happier and more productive. We urge companies across America to join us and donate to a local food bank so that nationally we will be feeding the homeless and cutting out hunger.”

It’s not too late to register! The Corporate Food Drive Challenge runs from March 1 - 31, 2017.
