Siemens Strengthens Water Services Offering in European Market

Siemens Water Technologies is expanding its water treatment services and product offering in Europe. The company will increase its aftermarket services and parts primarily for the oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, chemical processing, power, food and beverage, and life science industries, and will establish two new distribution centers. Siemens is also launching its membrane cleaning program to all of Europe. Disinfection services continue to be an important offering for municipal drinking water and wastewater treatment plants as well as for aquatic applications.

With service branches currently located in Belgium, France, Germany, and the UK, Siemens Water Technologies addresses industrial and municipal customers' concerns. The company will establish distribution centers in the UK and Belgium in 2011 for such aftermarket parts as membranes, resin, cartridge filters, and UV lamps for the industrial markets. Having two distribution centers will ensure that an adequate stock of supplies can be quickly shipped to European customers.

In addition, Siemens will launch its membrane cleaning program to the greater European market. Customers can have their reverse osmosis (RO) membranes cleaned by trained field service technicians. Membrane cleaning will extend the useful life of RO membrane modules and can even restore RO membranes to or near the original manufacturer's performance specifications. Although cleaning can be done on-site using the customer's clean-in-place (CIP) skid and standard cleaning procedures, off-site cleaning at specially equipped facilities is recommended for the best results.

Siemens Water Technologies provides service and maintenance contracts for Wallace & Tiernan disinfection systems in municipal drinking water and wastewater treatment plants and for aquatic applications like leisure centers and public swimming pools. This service includes the often legally regulated annual system checks for disinfection systems plus preventive and corrective maintenance over the total life cycle. Full-service contracts cover all maintenance costs, including wear parts. Siemens' service team tracks the specific maintenance schedule to provide as-needed maintenance, in a timely fashion.

"Our service offering helps municipal and industrial customers keep plants online to avoid unscheduled downtime due to either equipment failure or environmental noncompliance," said Olaf Jansen, Head of the European business for Siemens Water Technologies. "If a plant does go offline, we help restore operations to a normal state with our on-call services. And finally, while in a plant, our technicians look for ways the client can reduce its cost, increase its production reliability, or increase its production quantity."
