Sharp Named to EPEAT Green Electronics Registry

Office Products Included on Global Registry for Meeting Strict Environmental Criteria

MAHWAH, N.J. - Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) today announces that EPEAT, the definitive global registry for greener electronics, has added 28 Sharp Multifunctional Printers (MFPs) and two printers to its product registry as of the date of this release.

By providing environmental ratings on electronics, EPEAT helps companies, governments and consumers easily identify and purchase greener devices for improved environmental benefits. EPEAT rates products on a lifecycle basis, addressing the elimination of toxic substances, the use of recycled and recyclable materials, design for recycling, product longevity, energy efficiency, corporate performance and packaging, among other criteria.

Sharp factories are continuously working to eliminate waste and greenhouse gases, and achieve other environmental targets in 21 key areas. Sharp® products have won several awards for corporate responsibility and sustainability, creating products with high environmental performance, developing unique environmental technologies and contributing back to their communities and society at large. Recent awards include the 2013 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award and placement on the Newsweek GLOBAL 500 Ranking.

"This ranking is the result of our ongoing commitment to green practices," says Mike Marusic, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Operations, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. "Sharp copiers and printers are among the industry's most energy efficient, and the company has long been a world leader in solar cell production. The EPEAT designation is just another reason why our customers can depend on us to not only provide high-quality products, but also to ensure that those products are manufactured in a responsible manner."
