Semrock RazorEdge® Optical Filters and WellDog Raman Spectrometers Used Together in Challenging Environments

Rochester NY – WellDog announced last week that its next generation of Reservoir Raman Spectroscopy™ systems, designed for monitoring challenging in situ coal seam environments and utilizing Semrock's rugged and reliable RazorEdge® filters, are now in service. The new systems provide a 10-fold increase in sensitivity and speed, are capable of operating at full rating in excess of 65°C (149°F), and show a 4-fold increase in resiliency to suspended particles.

"Our patented RazorEdge filters offer the highest performing deep laser-line blocking and ultra-steep edges for the instrumentation market," said Rob Beeson, GM of the Precision Coatings Group, IDEX Optics Photonics. "Our high laser damage threshold and five-year guarantee makes it very comfortable for instrumentation manufacturers to select Semrock filters when performance under pressure is critical."

"These new systems represent the pinnacle of harsh environment Raman spectroscopy sensing," said Quentin Morgan, CTO of WellDog. "The new systems not only provide better sensing performance, but are more ruggedized and reliable than previous generations."

This technology is expected to see continued growth with the increased demand for energy resources worldwide.
