Securus Technologies Purchases Cara Clinicals, Inc.

Securus Technologies Acquires Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Company That Improves Efficiency and Accuracy of Health Care in the Corrections Sector

DALLAS – Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has acquired Cara Clinicals, Inc. of Woodbury, Minnesota (suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul) for an undisclosed all cash purchase price.

"We have partnered with Cara Clinicals, Inc. for several years, and our subsidiary Archonix has been very successful in selling electronic records systems since 2012," said Richard A. ("Rick") Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies. "Cara Clinicals, Inc. fits perfectly with our software based high tech product set and expands the jail management systems (JMS) product set that Archonix has offered successfully to prisons and jails throughout the United States. Already owning Archonix, the sales channel for Cara Clinicals and working with the staff of Cara for several years de-risks this transaction for us," said Smith. "We understand the customers, the market for EMR and JMS, the software, the owner of Cara, Mitra Singhvi, and how to integrate the software solution, so this represents another solid transaction for us. Ms. Singhvi is a healthcare professional who understands the corrections sector well, and we look forward to working with her to deliver the benefits of Uniek EMR to a larger group of our customers."

"There previously were no good EMR solutions constructed specifically for the corrections environment, so we set out to correct that and create a platform that is intuitive, easy to use and can be customized for each facility's unique needs," said Mitra Singhvi, Chief Executive Officer of Cara Clinicals, Inc. "We partnered with Securus because they have the broadest set of products that exist in the corrections sector, they embrace new technology, they have high integrity, and build high tech solutions to facility issues - so that is the type of company I wanted to be part of."
