Scaffold Crews Achieve 100,000-Hour Safety Milestone At Marathon Oil Corporation's Garyville Expansion Site

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Nov. 17, 2008 - The ThyssenKrupp Safway erection and dismantling team at
the Marathon Oil Corporation's Garyville Major Expansion Project (GME) has worked more than
100,000 hours without a safety incident.

"A zero tolerance policy for unsafe behavior has been the driver of our success," said Garyville
Branch Manager Earl Bennett. "The high level of internal employee training and education,
accompanied by our belief that all accidents are avoidable and unacceptable, has allowed us to
reach this milestone."

The safety milestone only adds to the overall success at the site, which has more than three million
hours recorded without an accident or injury.

ThyssenKrupp Safway crews have erected and dismantled more than half a million Systems(TM)
Scaffold parts, enabling other personnel to safely access their scope of work with no delays.
Approximately 250 crew members from ThyssenKrupp Safway are onsite daily.

"The ThyssenKrupp Safway site management team and erection and dismantling crews have
consistently delivered safe, on-time and under budget results while continuing to provide valueadded
creations and innovative access solutions for our customer," Bennett said.

The Garyville Major Expansion (GME) project is one of the largest construction projects underway in
the U.S. It is an estimated $3.2 billion investment that will increase the size of the newest grassroots
refinery in the U.S. by 180,000 barrels per day (bpd), making it among the largest refineries in the
country.
