Sales Growth Drives Restructuring at Roland


LAKE FOREST, CA. January 7, 2006 With 2005 revenues exceeding projections by more than 35 percent, Roland Advanced Solutions Division (ASD) has reorganized its management team and added new positions.

"The past year has been a period of unprecedented growth for us," said Gerald Hiller, Roland ASD managing director. "Each and every one of our product lines - cutters, engravers and 3D devices - outperformed expectations. To ensure our continued success in the future, we have made some exciting changes."

David Olson has taken on the newly created position of Roland ASD business development manager. Olson's new role will allow him to focus more time on long and short range business opportunities. He will also continue to take on sales management responsibilities for 3D products.

"David joined the Roland team six years ago," said Gerald Hiller, Roland ASD managing director. "I credit him for our success in the CAD/CAM industry, and I have every confidence that he will succeed in working with our marketing staff as well as research and development in Japan to create additional profitable solutions for our customers."

Previously, Olson has held executive sales, marketing and business development positions. Olson received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University with an emphasis in dynamics, shock and vibration analysis. He began his engineering career designing and prototyping complex mechanical systems at General Dynamics and Raytheon. While working as an engineer, Olson expanded his formal business education by earning his Masters Degree in Engineering Management with special emphasis in the Marketing of Technology from George Washington University.

Neil Zdunkawicz has been promoted to Roland ASD marketing manager. Zdunkawicz will use his 20 years of sales and marketing experience to help expand Roland technology into new industries. "I am thrilled to serve as marketing manager," said Zdunkawicz. "In 2006, we have several new business solutions specially designed to help our customers succeed."

Previously, Zdunkawicz served as Roland's applications and technical services manager. He has extensive sales and marketing experience with a wide range of products, including vinyl cutters, wide format printers and large format scanners. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.

Jesse Garcia has promoted to the newly created position of senior technical support specialist. Garcia's new role will allow him to work closely with the technical support and application engineering teams. This hybrid position will entail significant product training, resolution of high level technical support issues, creation of Web based support documents and trade show assistance.

Phillip Gregory is Roland ASD's new technical support specialist. Gregory is a certified expert in Roland technologies and will be able to use his expertise to help customers with their technical issues. He fields questions covering everything from machine maintenance to technical tips and tricks.
