Saddle Creek Helps to Honor Fallen Veterans

Lakeland, Fla. – Saddle Creek Logistics Services helped to pay holiday tribute to fallen veterans at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., and Florida National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sat. Dec. 12th as part of a nationwide remembrance organized by Wreaths Across America (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org).

Last week, a Saddle Creek tractor and trailer traveled from Florida to Columbia Falls, Maine, to pick up the live wreaths. On Saturday, trailers emblazoned with special Saddle Creek Wreaths Across America logos, were escorted by more than 600 motorcycles and 20 law enforcement officers and carried the wreaths 60 miles in a procession from Lakeland to the cemetery.  Saddle Creek associates then joined volunteers, veterans and active-duty military in laying the wreaths on grave sites as part of the annual remembrance ceremony. In total, more than 12,600 live wreaths were placed at the Bushnell cemetery.

Saddle Creek has been participating in Wreaths Across America since 2006 with enthusiastic support from the company’s associates. Over the past nine years, the effort has grown dramatically under the direction of Saddle Creek truck drivers, the late Jack Sellers and Johnny Chestnut, who now manages local promotion and fundraising for the event. This year’s ceremony was attended by more than 10,000 people.
