Rubbermaid Recognized for Environmental Platform

Dallas, TX. (March 13, 2006) - Approximately 160 of Rubbermaid Commercial Products' senior managers and salespeople attended Rubbermaid's 2006 National Sales Meeting at the Gaylord in Dallas, Texas. There, Stephen Ashkin, of The Ashkin Group, LLC, presented the company with an award recognizing Rubbermaid's commitment to leadership in environmental stewardship. Stephen Ashkin is widely recognized as the leading authority on Green Cleaning and on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. "Our industry is recognizing Rubbermaid Commercial Products for taking the high road: committing to a journey toward true sustainability, versus the easy route of developing a handful of recycled products."

Sustainability Percolates to the Top
In accepting the award, Rubbermaid president Larry McIsaac acknowledged that, "We are really at the beginning of our journey, but we are committed and will not lose sight of our responsibilities." He further explained that, "this is a critical issue for businesses, which, fortunately, is gaining traction and percolating to the top of nearly every decision-making tree. Imagine the exponential power, as more and more companies embrace principle of sustainability. And they will."

Opportunities
Rubbermaid has a rich array of opportunities to have a beneficial environmental impact: providing containers to support recycling programs; leading in the development and adoption of cleaning technologies and techniques, such as microfiber cleaning, that reduce the need for chemicals and reduce strain on cleaning staff; improving shipping efficiencies to reduce fuel consumption; helping the industry develop better streams of recycled content for manufacturing, thereby reducing reliance on virgin resins; and, educating employees about opportunities to "raise the bar" on ecological effectiveness. Rubbermaid has published a Green Mission Statement, and established a team of business leaders, charged with identifying and executing the projects to be undertaken to improve the company's environmental impact.
