Rochester Precision Optics Acquires Molded Plastic Optics

Rochester, NY. -December 29, 2010 - Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) today announced the acquisition of Molded Plastic Optics (MPO) a leading designer and manufacturer of molded plastic optics for commercial and defense markets. MPO is based in Manchester, New Hampshire, and was founded in 2008 by a team of experienced optical engineers and industry professionals focused on providing the highest precision and complexity of plastic optics found in the industry.

"MPO's technologies are very important to the overall strategy at RPO" said William Hurley, president of Rochester Precision Optics. "When we acquired the Kodak group we weren't able to secure the plastic optics business. Now with this acquisition RPO can offer our customers extremely high precision and complex plastic optical technologies and system designs which incorporate polymer optics. They have the latest automated mold presses, metrology and precision tool manufacturing available in the world today. RPO will now be able to deliver complete optical solutions whether plastic or glass components or hybrid systems combining both technologies."

Molded Plastic Optics and RPO will provide customers with a one stop option to solve complex problems facing the optics community today. With this acquisition, Molded Plastic Optics (MPO) will become the Plastic Optics Division of Rochester Precision Optics.
