Riverside Brass Awarded the Federal Contract for the Historic Site and Monuments Board of Canada and Parks Canada Plaques

New Hamburg, ON — Known for their excellence in producing one of a kind identification plaques and memorialization products, Riverside Brass was recently awarded the coveted contract to produce plaques for the Historic Sites Monuments Board of Canada and Parks Canada.

A respected leader and innovator among Ontario's foundries, and a trusted name among government officials, school and hospital boards, and community associations for exceeding expectations with their stylish and durable products - Riverside has produced more than 20 commemorative plaques of superior artistry and craftsmanship. These custom plaques are displayed at the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada’s Marine Biological Stations in Fort Langley, British Columbia, The Canadian Arctic Expedition 1913-1918 in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Notre Dame Basilica Cathedral in Quebec City, Quebec, Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario – to name a few.

Under the three year contract, Riverside Brass will create plaques to memorialize specific subjects who are of national historical significance.  These custom, bronze plaques will be inscribed in bilingual text, and installed in locations that are easily accessible to the public.  Two of the most recent plaques created by Riverside marked the national historic significance of Canada’s naval aviation during the Cold War, and commemorated the Sea King’s helicopter 50th Anniversary.

“The Government of Canada is pleased to commemorate the national historic significance of Canadian naval aviation during the Cold War. The contributions of the men and women whose service and expertise kept Canada safe, helped set the standard for Canada’s involvement in international peacekeeping and humanitarian initiatives in the decades that followed.” — Erin O’Toole, CD, Member of Parliament for Durham.

“As a former aviator who served proudly on the Sea King helicopter, it was an honour for me to represent the government at events commemorating the Sea King 50th Anniversary. Today we celebrate not only this impressive aircraft that has served Canadian interests domestically and abroad, but also the skilled and dedicated men and women who have operated and serviced the helicopter for 50 years.” —Erin O’Toole, CD, Member of Parliament for Durham.
