Richard C. Buzun, Past President Siemens Energy & Automation, Dies


Richard C. Buzun, 61, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Energy & Automaton from October 2000 to June 2002, died unexpectedly on July 11, 2005.

The Alpharetta, Ga., resident joined Siemens Energy & Automation in 1994 as Vice President of Residential Business. In 1995, he was appointed to Vice President Distribution Products Division. In 1999, Buzun was named Executive Vice President when he assumed responsibilities for the motors and controls businesses. In December of 1999, he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for all operating divisions of Siemens Energy & Automation.

Prior to joining Siemens, Buzun held positions of increasing responsibility at General Electric, where he started his career in 1967. In 1982, Buzun was appointed President and General Manager of Midwest Electric (a GE subsidiary) in Mankato, Minn. In 1989, he became General Manager Strategic Distribution, and in 1992 he was named General Manager Sales for the GE Electrical Distribution & Controls businesses in Plainville, Conn.

Buzun served as a member on the IDEA Board of Directors, Chairman of the CABA Board of Directors, and was a member of the Board of Directors for Workbrain. He was also a member of the Georgia Tech President's Advisory Board, and served on the Board of Directors of the Carter Center.
