RIA Announces 2014 Golden Quill Award Winner

Rockville, MD – The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) awarded its prestigious 2014 Golden Quill award to Chuck Violand of Violand Management Associates for his two-part article, “Overcoming Stage II Stall” at its 69th Annual RIA Convention and Industry Expo in Orlando, Fla.

Presented annually at the RIA Convention, eligible articles are reviewed by a panel of judges who select the winning article based on the degree of usefulness of the information to readers; the composition and clarity of the article; and the style or personality conveyed by the author. Only articles written by RIA members and submitted to C&R magazine during the previous year are eligible for award consideration.

“I am truly honored to receive this award and appreciate the opportunity to help build strong, successful businesses in our industry,” said Violand.

“RIA is fortunate to have many extremely knowledgeable members and industry experts who are willing to share their expertise with our readers,” said Editor-in-Chief Patricia Harman. “Ninety-five percent of the articles that appear in C&R are written by RIA members and industry experts.”

This year, six articles were eligible for the award. C&R magazine has won 22 awards for editorial and design excellence over the last nine years.

To recognize the efforts of Harman, who has served as the editor of C&R for close to 19 years, the Golden Quill will be renamed as the Patricia L. Harman Golden Quill Award beginning in 2015. Harman will be leaving as the editor of the publication at the end of the month.
