Rayotek Sight Windows Announces Johnson Space Center's Subcontractor of the Year Award

Rayotek Sight Windows is proud to announce that its sister company, Rayotek Scientific, Inc., was honored with NASA’s Johnson Space Center 2014 Subcontractor of the Year Award.  The award was given for the engineering and fabrication of Orion Spacecraft Windows.

The highly anticipated launch of the Orion Exploration Flight Test 1 (EFT-1) Mission from late 2014 featured windows engineered and fabricated with technologies developed by both Rayotek Scientific and Rayotek Sight Windows. Because of its critical value-added contributions to the NASA Spacecraft Window Program, Rayotek was recognized as the 2014 Johnson Space Center (JSC) Subcontractor of the Year.

Rayotek provided comprehensive engineering support and unique fabrication capabilities for the Orion spacecraft viewing windows, rocket engine sight glasses and other vital applications.  As a result of being selected the JSC Subcontractor of The Year, Rayotek was also nominated for the NASA Agency Award for nationwide Subcontractor of The Year.

The Small Business Subcontractor of The Year Award is given to one company each year out of thousands of subcontractors that support NASA programs. It is awarded to companies that not only supply top quality products, but, in addition, contribute innovative technologies and solutions.

“Rayotek is very appreciative of NASA awarding us this prestigious award. We are grateful that NASA and their Prime, Lockheed Martin, recognize our unique contribution to the Orion Space Program,” says Rayotek CTO Bill Raggio. “We do great work, we know more about making glass strong and safe than just about any other company out there.  It’s wonderful to be acknowledged for this unique capability.”

Large and small business prime contractors, subcontractors and NASA organizations from across the country attended the award ceremony.  NASA’s Johnson Space Center is a leader and host to worldwide spaceflight activities and Mission Control for the U.S. space program and the International Space Station.
