San Diego, California - March 27, 2017 – Rayotek announces the installation, qualification and startup of a full service in-house CNC Turning Center and CNC Milling Machine department. Rayotek can now manufacture a variety of precision machined components, which will improve the leadtime, variety and cost of their products.
The implementation of a CNC Mill and CNC Machine allows Rayotek to have tighter control on the processes of making their machined components, test fixtures, tooling and molds for industrial glass assemblies, lens grinding and molding. The machine shop is staffed by a team of highly skilled CNC technicians plus the support of Rayotek’s extensive engineering department. These production level machines can produce dozens of complex housings per day. This improves production turnaround time by up to 50 percent.
The new CNC machine department will also support Rayotek R&D, catalyzing much faster concept to market research and engineering. This also means better continuous improvement of existing technologies, and faster customer funded engineering and prototyping.
“This is an epic move for Rayotek. We’ve always had to rely on outside sources for machined components, which put us in a vulnerable position with not only lead-times, but with costs. This is a huge investment, it’s symbolic, it’s us consciously moving the company to the next level; more towards what a mid-size corporation would be. We are very proud of having these machines!” states Bill Raggio, Rayotek’s President and CTO.
Since 1992 Rayotek has engineered and manufactured sapphire, glass, fused quartz and fused silica products and assemblies such as aerospace windows, submersible domes and laser optical diffusers, enabling companies across the globe to bring cutting-edge products to market. Rayotek’s expertise is creating solutions for complex customer needs and leading projects from the conceptual stage, through engineering and design, to final manufacture.
