Quantum3D Opens New Markets for Simulation System Developers, and Unveils Linux-Based Generation of Mantis Software with Advanced Capabilities

Quantum3D Targets Lower Cost and More Versatile Solutions with a New Mantis Architecture Including Linux Compatibility, a New Image Generator Platform Management Module, and Several Realistic Enhanced Imaging Features

ORLANDO, Fla. — (I/ITSEC, Booth# 2501) - Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of visual computing solutions for government and commercial applications, today announced a new strategy and broad range of added capabilities for its award-winning Mantis® image generation (IG) software. With a new Linux version complementing the existing Windows-based offering, Mantis now delivers the same level of high performance and functionality for both popular OS environments.

"Mantis is already the most scalable solution for simulation and training visual applications, supporting small, single-processor PC IG's to very large multichannel server-class systems," said Pratish Shah, president CEO of Quantum3D. "The new Linux release maximizes freedom of choice for Mantis customers, and opens up more potential applications than ever before."

It is now possible to combine a Linux-based real-time simulation host together with a Mantis IG on a single low-cost PC (items which traditionally reside in separate computers), creating an economical all-in-one integrated "desktop" simulator. While Mantis is already well-known as a leader in military aircraft training applications, this new flexibility makes Mantis especially ideal for more budget-sensitive tasks such as training of Air Traffic Control, Maritime, Heavy Equipment, and other vehicle operators.

Quantum3D also announced Commander, a tool which empowers customers to cost-effectively tailor and manage high-performance IG's built using their choice of hardware. IG hardware lifecycle management has always been an issue with long service life simulators, but with Mantis and Commander, customers can take control of obsolescence planning in ways that are optimized for every unique situation. When combined with Mantis, Commander takes the hassle out of building a custom IG. Customers can choose and build their own hardware to suit their needs, and still benefit from many of the same advanced capabilities as found in Quantum3D's flagship Independence® series. Commander is a centralized management system which provides single-point control of multiple channel processors, and handles key management tasks such as initialization, run time monitoring, video synchronization setup, and diagnostics. Commander supports a variety of COTS PC-based hardware platforms, and is available for both Linux and Windows.

The latest beta version of Mantis is on display at the I/ITSEC conference this week in Quantum3D's booth (#2501). Mantis, demonstrating several new advanced visual features, will be shown running on a variety of hardware, including standard commercial PC systems with SUSE Enterprise Linux as well as Quantum3D's Independence IDX 7000 image generator running Windows.

Mantis for Linux and Commander will be generally released and available in Q1, 2014.
