PTDA Presents Prestigious Warren Pike Award to Penny Omnès

Chicago, Ill. - The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) has named Penny Omnès, director, BCB Corporate Services, Ltd. (North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) the 21st recipient of its Warren Pike Award for lifetime achievement in the power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) industry.

Omnès received the award, named for PTDA's co-founder and first president, at the association's 50th Anniversary Industry Summit in Phoenix, Ariz., today. The award was established in 1984 to honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding, continuous, long-term support of PTDA and the PT/MC industry.

Omnès began volunteering with PTDA in 1993, serving on the Marketing Committee. She went on to chair the Industry Relations Committee in 1996. Omnès joined the Board of Directors the following year and became the association's first and, to date, only female president in 2000. Omnès also served two two-year terms-from 2005 through 2008-as president of the PTDA Foundation.

Omnès is well-known throughout the association as a champion for Canadian members and as an active force in the work of the Foundation, according to Mary Sue Lyon, PTDA executive vice president.

Gus Kontonickas, now retired, served as the Manufacturer Chair while Omnès was president. "What impressed me about Penny was the fact that she was always reaching out to the manufacturers and to her peer companies to build strong relationships - I think that's what she does best. On a scale of 1 to 10, she's a 12."

Kontonickas wasn't the only person singing Penny's praises. Bob Callahan of Hitachi Maxco Ltd. spoke of Penny's deep involvement with the work of the Foundation. "Penny has the unique ability to galvanize people. She really gravitated to the Foundation, because of her continuing desire to help strengthen the industry. Penny is a very selfless person. She will give of her time and her energy."

In her role as director for BCB Corporate Services, Ltd., Omnès splits her time between two continents, working tirelessly for the PT/MC industry.
