PTDA 2018 Industry Summit Participants Ascended the Summit and Elevated Connections

Chicago, Ill.—November 13, 2018—Over 700 participants from the power transmission/ motion control (PT/MC) industry came together October 17-20 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. They ascended the summit using tools and information from relevant presentations and the latest economic update to learn about the future and elevated connections to help build the networks that are so critical to business success.

The PTDA 2018 Industry Summit participants enjoyed the beautiful venue and breathtaking views, and industry leaders embraced the new and renewed connections they made throughout the week and took home what they learned to implement new ideas in their businesses.

“I enjoyed the opportunity to meet senior level executives from my current suppliers and also connect with new companies to potentially add lines. There were plenty of networking opportunities that allowed me to connect with existing manufacturer and distributor friends. I really enjoyed the format and the location,” said first time attendee Justin Phelps, vice president of Power Drives Systems, Inc. (Jackson, Mich.)

Toby Imgrund, director of marketing and product management for Renold (Morristown, Tenn.), said, “We had many good meetings with key customers that have resulted in engagement after the Industry Summit. Also, there were good networking events and speakers, and great intel from the economic overview.”

2018 Industry Summit at a Glance

Powerful speakers provided insight on disruption and how to create opportunities, discussed the future of IIoT, and provided solutions to acquire good leadership skills. In addition, The Beaulieu Report offered an economic update including industrial production highlights and developments in end-user industries to guide PTDA member companies through the next few years.

Over 650 one-on-one meetings took place at MD-IDEX, providing distributors and manufacturers with a formal opportunity to discuss business and issues of mutual interest.

The event wrapped with an après ski-styled closing event complete with a variety of games, and firepits to enjoy the adult s’mores.

Other highlights:

  • The prestigious Warren Pike Award was presented by PTDA to Ken Miko, director category management & strategic accounts, BDI, Cleveland, Ohio.
  • The Wendy B. McDonald Award was presented by the PTDA Foundation to Ellen Holladay, SVP CIO OE Officer at Motion Industries, Birmingham, Ala.
  • PTDA member companies pledged $66,825 in contributions to the PTDA Foundation, supporting the PT WORK Force initiative which helps members in hiring the next generation of talent.

Looking to 2019

The PTDA 2019 Industry Summit will be held October 23-26 at the JW Marriott Austin in Austin, Texas. Registration will open in June 2019.
