Protecode Receives "Ready for Rational" Software Validation by IBM

Protecode Library Auditor Integration with IBM Rational ClearCase Now Available

Ottawa, ON - February, 1, 2011 - Protecode Inc., an innovative provider of open source license management solutions, today announced that its Library Auditor(TM) has achieved Ready for Rational Software validation by IBM and now seamlessly integrates with IBM Rational ClearCase, a solution that provides sophisticated version control, workspace management, parallel development support and build auditing to improve productivity. This integrated solution helps provide IBM Rational customers with an efficient, easy to use, automated tool for managing open source and third party code within their software libraries. License management is increasingly becoming an integral part of software development. Compliance with licensing obligations will now be even easier with Library Auditor's complete integration with IBM's industry standard Source Control Management solution.

Protecode, an Advanced Member in IBM PartnerWorld, provides automated tools as part of its System 4(TM) open source license management product line, ensuring legal compliance with open source licensing obligations at different stages of a quality product development process. Using automated tools in the development process greatly reduces costs and legal risks. Library Auditor's integration with Rational ClearCase has the potential to increase value to IBM's customers and reduce costs associated with license compliance.

"Library Auditor's Ready for Rational validation is part of Protecode's plan to expand its partnership with IBM to ensure license compliance can be achieved at multiple points during development," said Kamal Hassin, Director of Product Management, Protecode. "Integration with ClearCase will ensure that license incompatibilities will be detected early in the software development process."

Proteocde's Library Auditor is part of System 4, an end to end license compliance product line that ensures all files committed to a code library are compliant with an organization's open source licensing policy. Working closely with IBM's ClearCase solution, Library Auditor is notified whenever new files have been committed to a pre-defined portion of the repository. Once notified, it automatically performs an analysis using the services of System 4 Enterprise Server. Analysis includes querying the Protecode IP Signatures database to determine its associated licensing obligations. Violations against the established licensing policy are then reported. Library Auditor is lightweight, easy to deploy, and works with all other reporting and management capabilities of Protecode System 4 components.
