On January 27th, Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea celebrated the rededication of the State House Charter Museum. Over 50 members from the community including elected officials and history enthusiasts attended a reception in the State House Library followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony a the entrance to the Museum.

The event highlighted the brand-new, locally-crafted display cases for the Royal Charter of 1663, a priceless documentfrom our state's history that garanteed Rhode Island settlers freedom or religion and the freedom to govern themselves. Two local companies helped to create the new displays, which will preserve and protect the three panels of the Royal Charter. Sandberg Machine, a manufacturing company in Burrillville, created the state of the art cases; and architectural woodworkers Herric White in Cumberland created the wooden bases.
