Pratt & Whitney WSK PZL-Rzeszow Launches F100 Assembly and Testing Capabilities for Poland's F-16 Fleet


LONDON, FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW, July 17 / -- Pratt & Whitney WSK PZL-Rzeszow, in Poland, now has the capability to assemble and test F100-PW-229 engines. The engines will be installed in the Polish Air Force's new fleet of 48 F-16 fighter aircraft. Pratt & Whitney is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Pratt & Whitney President Stephen Finger hosted an inauguration ceremony recently at the Rzeszow facility attended by Polish national and local government leaders, U.S. government representatives, Pratt & Whitney and Lockheed Martin representatives, and WSK PZL-Rzeszow employees who have contributed to the development and implementation of this new capability.

Finger, Marek Darecki, general manager of WSK PZL-Rzeszow, and representatives from Polish Ministry of National Defense installed a ceremonial last bolt on the first F100 engine assembled at the facility. This significant investment demonstrates Pratt & Whitney's commitment to advancing the tooling, training and facility modernization of its WSK PZL-Rzeszow location, and underscores the company's growing relationship with Poland. Pratt & Whitney has been present in Poland for more than 30 years and is one of the larger foreign investors in the Polish aviation industry.

Pratt & Whitney military engine models include the F135 for the Joint Strike Fighter; F119 powering the F-22 Raptor; F117 for the C-17 Globemaster III; F100 for F-15 and F-16 fighters; J52 for the EA-6B Prowler; TF33 powering AWACS, Joint STARS, B-52, C-141 and KC-135 aircraft; TF30 for the F-111; PT6 for T-6A and UH-1N aircraft; and JT15D for the T-1A trainer and Pegasus UCAV.
