HAMBURG, Sept. 23 -- MRO EUROPE -- Pratt & Whitney's EcoPower engine wash service has been recognized with the 2009 North American Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Product Innovation of the Year Award from Frost & Sullivan. The award, presented at Frost & Sullivan's Growth Excellence Awards Banquet, recognizes EcoPower engine wash as an industry best practice. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. Pratt & Whitney's patented EcoPower engine wash system reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating approximately three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while decreasing engine gas temperature and increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing. The EcoPower engine wash system, offered through the Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners network, uses a closed-loop system with pure, atomized water to wash aircraft engines, avoiding potential contaminant runoff. The system is more effective and much faster than traditional engine washing processes.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
