Power Technology Leader Appointed to SPIE Policy Committee to Advance Light-Based Science Globally

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.  January 12, 2020  Power Technology, Inc. announces its vice president and co-owner, Walter Burgess, has been appointed to the SPIE Engineering Science and Technology Policy (ESTeP) Committee. The appointment will leverage Power Technology’s more than 50 years of expertise in photonics for worldwide advancement of light-based research and technologies.

SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics, an educational not-for-profit organization founded in 1955 to advance light-based science, engineering, and technology.

The ESTeP Committee promotes understanding about issues that affect the well-being of the optical science and engineering communities worldwide. This Committee also advises the SPIE Board and other Society groups on ways to expand the Society's role in science and engineering policy.

Burgess’ appointment will also incorporate Power Technology’s support in the Committee’s efforts for U.S. legislative advocacy of public policy issues regarding optical and photonics-driven topics.

Burgess, Power Technology vice president of sales and engineering, said, “I am honored to serve on this impressive team of optical and photonics experts. Advancement in light-based science is something I have a great passion for and I am excited to lend the voice and experience of Power Technology to the Committee.”

The first ESTeP Committee meeting of 2021 is scheduled at the end of January. For more information about Power Technology, visit powertechnology.com.
