POREX® Offers Unmatched Customization for Cosmetics Designers

Paris, France (June 22, 2017) Porex Corporation (Porex®Â) will present Nubiform® an innovative new material to help cosmetics brands shine at MakeUp in Paris (Carrousel du Louvre; June 22-23, 2017). A high-performance elastomer, Nubiform offers designers an alternative material that is specially engineered for numerous cosmetics applications including foundation applicators, liquid eye liners, lip stain and eye shadow applicators. In addition, Porex will showcase a line of latex-free foams that are pleasing to the touch and friendly to the skin for a variety of makeup and other personal care applications.

These design innovations will be showcased at Booth #E-18.

Taking cosmetics designs to new heights, Nubiform combines complex three-dimensional shaping capabilities with an open-cell porous structure. This enables designers to adjust pore sizes to optimize the flow-through for a wide range of different cosmetic formulations. Designers can use Nubiform to create numerous cosmetics products from doe feet for dip applicators to sphere balls all with varying degrees of hardness and softness. The material is available as a multi-layer structure, or it can be insert molded to other solid plastics.

Anti-microbial protection is an optional feature of Nubiform. Porex® Barrier Technology incorporates anti-microbial elements that are evenly distributed throughout the material structure to prevent microbial growth and kill potentially harmful bacteria. This capability meets consumer demands for greater on-the-go hygiene.

"Cosmetics brands today are coming up with new and unique makeup formulations with different textures,â€Â says Rusty Martin, Global Strategic Marketing Director Consumer and Industrial Segments at POREX. “Nubiform's flow-through characteristics make it a perfect fit for brand owners who are creating novel products, from anti-aging skin creams to spray-on foundations. It gives designers and consumers the ultimate freedom, flexibility and control."

At MakeUp in Paris, Porex will also have on display latex-free, polyurethane foams available in custom colors and die-cut shapes. These options bring salon-quality luxury to makeup applications, and give cosmetics brands the ability to customize softness and active ingredients.

Porex product portfolio and customer base was significantly expanded with the Filtration Group purchase of the Porous Technologies business of Essentra plc in March of 2017.
