Phillips 66 Lubricants Announces New Non-Toxic Claim to Uniguide II(TM) Lubricant

New Claim Allows Premium Ashless Saw Guide Oil to Be Used in Environmentally Sensitive Areas

HOUSTON - Phillips 66 Lubricants, one of the largest finished lubricants suppliers in North America, today announced an additional non-toxic claim to its Uniguide II™ lubricant product.. This premium quality oil is specially developed to provide optimum lubrication of saw guides and saw blades in sawmills. Recently performed toxicity testing against four different species proves that Uniguide II is non-toxic by industry standards to species native to both freshwater and saltwater.

“This new non-toxicity claim offers a huge benefit to customers, as they will now be able to use Uniguide II around waterways and other environmentally sensitive areas,” said Scott McQueen, Phillips 66 Lubricants Manager, Lubricants Research Product Management. “In addition to protecting the environment, the ashless technology provides excellent performance and environmental characteristics, providing protection to the equipment used in sawmills.”

Uniguide II was proven to be nontoxic to aquatic systems as confirmed by testing with four species (algae, mysid shrimp, daphnia and rainbow trout) per EC/LC50 OECD methods.

The findings show that Uniguide II is safe to use in saw guide applications in all areas of the mill. Recommended for the lubrication of arbor bearings and saw guide systems that utilize "thin kerf" technology in cutting lumber, Uniguide II provides wear protection, tackiness, enhanced metal-wetting ability and protection against rust and corrosion. Additional features and benefits include extreme-pressure properties for wear protection, resistance to sling-off and excellent filterability.
