Pepperl+Fuchs Monitors Now Available in Sunlight Readable Displays

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs has increased the brightness levels of its industrial flat panel LCD monitors in sizes that include 10", 12", 15", 19" and 22". The 15" (1200 nit) and 19" (1000 nit) displays provide a high brightness value of 1200 nits allowing a greater user experience in sunlight and outdoor applications.

All displays accept standard VGA / DVI and NTSC inputs from a PC or video camera source. These monitors are available in a variety of mounting styles and touch screen options, and are sold as general-purpose displays as a UL-rated Class I, Class II / Division 2 approved component, or as an ATEX and IECEx Zone 2 approved component.

Specifications

Ranging in resolution from 640x480 to 1680x1050, and at scan rates from 60 to 75 Hz without image distortion or flicker, the DM500 series are 12V DC powered displays requiring power from an external source. This is critical for keeping the monitor cool and reliable. Pepperl+Fuchs industrial monitors utilize convection cooling and do not require an internal fan, which also increases product reliability. The monitors operate at temperatures from -20° C to 50° C, and have the highest MTBF in the industry at over 550,000 hours.

Touch Screen Technology and High Brightness Backlit Displays

Pepperl+Fuchs' industrial grade monitors can be ordered with an optional resistive touch screen. This is a third-party approved, five-wire resistive touch screen suitable for general purpose, Class I/Div 2 and/or Zone 2 environments. A resistive touch screen provides mouse emulation, allowing the operator to use a finger, glove or stylus to initiate the touch screen functionality.

There is also a self-calibration tool for precise adjustments. For PC interface, the touch screens have both a USB and Serial output.

"Our monitors are engineered to endure harsh plant floor environments," says Kristen Barbour, Product Marketing Manager. "Each monitor is designed with the highest tolerances for extended temperatures, shock and vibration requirements, and now offer the additional advantage of high bright displays for easier visualization in outdoor environments."

Also available in this series is the hardened resistive touch screen. A thin glass film is bonded to the front user surface, providing superior protection against long term surface wear and incidental scuffs. This glass film also protects from corrosive chemicals and provides shatter protection from frontal impacts. The hardened resistive touch screen is interchangeable with the standard touch screen, and can be upgraded upon request.
