People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The American Petroleum Institute (API), an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Linda Schoumacher Rozett as vice president of communications.

"Linda Rozett's experience running national communications campaigns, her track record in the association community, and her knowledge of news and media are the perfect combination for API at this time," said API president and CEO Jack Gerard.

Ms. Rozett joins API after several years running her own media consultancy firm, FirstWord Strategies. Prior to that she served as communications director for the Friends of Fred Thompson organization, and as senior vice president of communications for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She has also previously worked for two other energy associations: the Edison Electric Institute and the Natural Gas Supply Association.

Ms. Rozett got her start in Washington at ABC News, where she rose from a desk assistant at World News Tonight to the Washington editorial news producer for Good Morning America. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

API is a national trade association that provides advocacy and outreach, research, standards, certification, and education for the U.S. oil and natural gas industry. Its 400 corporate members are producers, refiners, suppliers, pipeline operators, and marine transporters, as well as service and supply companies that support all segments of the industry.
